Who we serve
This support is for individuals experiencing homelessness or at risk of becoming homeless in our service area: Southwest Local School District and West Harrison.
Support with a plan for lasting stability
Through funds entrusted to Christ’s Loving Hands by Hope’s Journey, we help neighbors overcome barriers to housing and employment. Assistance must be connected to a clear, realistic plan of action for exiting homelessness or preventing the loss of housing.
We will talk with you about where you are now, what is standing in the way, and the next steps toward permanent housing. Depending on your circumstances and plan, support may include:
- Temporary assistance while permanent housing is being arranged, when there is a clear plan for the transition.
- Help accessing a job or overcoming employment barriers as part of a path toward stable housing.
- Help with identification and essential documents needed to move forward with housing, employment, or benefits.
- Assistance to prevent homelessness when it supports a practical plan to maintain stable housing.
Temporary lodging may be considered when it is a step in an agreed plan toward permanent housing. A short hotel stay without a plan for what happens afterward does not meet the purpose of this assistance.
Every request is reviewed individually. Assistance is determined on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of Christ’s Loving Hands through its Executive Director and depends on your situation, plan, eligibility, and available resources. Contacting us does not guarantee financial assistance.
State identification and mailing support
A missing ID or the lack of a stable mailing address can make it harder to find housing, apply for work, or access benefits. Our State Identification Pathway Program, developed in partnership with Hope’s Journey, helps eligible neighbors address these barriers.
The program is for individuals in the Harrison area who lack valid state identification and cannot provide the required documentation of an Ohio street address. Staff will review eligibility and explain the program agreement before enrollment.
- An approved mailing address: A designated address for state identification purposes and approved mail.
- Help with essential documents: Assistance obtaining and safely storing documents needed for state identification, such as a birth certificate or Social Security card.
- Mail pickup at CLH: Approved mail is held for pickup at our office at 444 S. State Street, Harrison, OH 45030, during office hours: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 9:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m.
Before using the mailing service
You must enroll and have an active program agreement before using the designated mailing address. All mail pickup takes place at the CLH office; staff will provide the mailing address and instructions after enrollment.
Approved mail includes government correspondence, identification and benefit cards, bank statements, and medical, school, or job-related paperwork. Packages, advertisements, personal letters, bills, and checks are not accepted. Mail is held for 30 days, so participants need to collect it regularly.
The mailing program does not provide housing, shelter, or residency. The designated mailing address cannot be claimed as your residence, and a USPS change of address from a previous residence to the program address is not permitted.
